I flew from Spfld to Chi on a puddle jumper last weekend. Took a cross-stitch block with me, but TSA took my needles and snippers. They let me mail them back to myself, but it still kind of burnt my cookies b/c I did check ahead and the TSA on the phone said it would be fine.
Be prepared for the worst and hope for the best. Take a pre-addressed/stamped envelope and a good book...
