I'd present it as "seasoned," and "certified" okay for baby to use and Mom to wash. There's also a poem that's nice to give with it:

It's okay if you spit on your quilt.
It's okay if your bottle gets spilt.
If you swallow some air
And you burp, don't despair,
It's okay if you spit on your quilt.
There are scraps old and new in your quilt,
Put together for you on your quilt.
