Snips have been around for dressmakers/tailors for years. My grandmother had a pair of Gingher ones. They are still as good as new. They are bigger then the ones I see for sale now though.
Glad you said it first! I've owned snips for almost 30 years. Once you learn to use them and hold them, you will never go back to using scissors for trimming threads. They also double as a seam ripper.
