I have made lots of flannel quilts, I live in Michigan and we have cold, cold winters and we like heavy, but I have always tied them and would really like one quilted.
My bedrooms are not heated, so I made mine with flannel on both sides also. I used two battings and longarm quilted it, so it was a big job.

Two battings, OMGosh that sounds like my kind of quilt. Two of my kids like heavy heavy quilts too so I think I will go ahead and make it and hope that someone will quilt it for me. Thanks for the information.
