I found that too, sometimes the sandwich seemed to get "stuck". Finally figured out that there is the tiniest lip between the bed of the machine and the throat plate...it was never a problem for normal sewing or piecing, but when FMQ it's just enough for the seams in the backing to get caught on. I put a piece of clear packing tape over the throat plate and down over the front of the machine bed, and ... no more problem.
