it could be several things, some ideas are answered above. From personal experience, I had a dragging feeling when I started to do FMQ on my machine. I discovered that the quilt was hanging down over the sewing table and creating a tugging action as I tried to move the quilt around. Hope your problem is as simple as all those discribed above.
