I made a rag quilt. I used different kinds of prints for the front; trucks, animals, I love grandma, etc. for the back I used pastels but you could use dark bold colors too. I then cut out appliques of butterfiles, frogs, etc and put them on the back. The reason for this was that the quilt makes a great item for them to lie on but for the first few months you might not want them lying on the fringe so I put the appliques on the back for them to have something to look at. It also gives you a place to sign it and put the childs name on it. The quilt was in the end reversible and it was very much used and loved by parents and child that recieved it.
