By ribbon, I thought you meant store bought ribbon. I have seen ribbon like that used in a quilt. Looks great.
I would think to make narrow ribbon sashing you would use a wider ribbon , mark the stitch lines etc. BUT do not cut the ribbon along the sides of the ribbon. It will fray terribly - ask me how I know this :oops:
