I think the quilt is made up of split 9 patches like the picture below. EQ keeps blowing up on me so I can't make the quilt.

But it you put 4 of these blocks, dark sides towards the center, you can see how it would form the central motif. And flip them and you get the frame.

Maybe EQ will cooperate later in the day. I'll try again then.

the quilt she was looking far has a 16 patch in the center then half sq and whole sqs then framed with sqs
The entire quilt is constructed using only ONE block layout.

If you read the entire thread, you'll see that BKrenning, ghostrider and I all provided detailed drawings of both the blocks and how they are placed to create the pattern in the larger quilt layout.

However, if you want to create the quilt using 16 patch blocks and HST's blocks, you can certainly go that way.
