My newer slo cooker only does good on low. The high setting is a boil....way too hot for slow cooking.I have to pick & choose recipes with this SC.

3-5 lb roast - 12 hours on high and then another 8 hours on low???
In my crockpots that would be burnt and inedible. Guess we need to know our crockpots.
