I've taken old sheets and layed them on the carpet before spraying. Up here in the winter I can't take outside to spray. :-D Then I just throw in washing machine! When I spray baste, I usually just pin the edges on the borders unless its a very large quilt then I'll still hand baste just to make sure its secure.
