This is why I don't shop for fabric at yard sales. I have mold allergies and allergic to cigarette smoke. If you have to spend a lot of time specially handling and washing the fabric you got for a bargain, in my opinion it ceases to be a bargain. I also worry about bringing strange critters into my home. But you could put the pieces in a mesh laundry bag and wash them gently in the washer with OxyClean.
