After making 6 of these for last Christmas, I found one slight change made things easier. I started sewing the long seam at the middle, or folded end. That way, working as fast as I was, if either side were to become twisted, it would be easy to un-twist it, and avoid having to rip out any seams. Here's a picture of a full-sized one I made for me.
Works up great with batiks, doesn't it?
But I'd never do a diagonal join as someone mentioned earlier. I'd do straight joins for all the seams.
