I have done the same thing many times with my Brother -- but it has survived each time - I do have to turn it off and reset it each time. And, my 1/4" foot is the one for my machine. It's just that the #0 stitch is a left side straight stitch - and the center straight stitch is #1 - so unless I remember to change the stitch...
