Yep - in college my marketing teacher said that was the idea for those ads.

Everyone wants to feel cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Some of the ad folks tried it the other way around and sales dropped and folks complained so the ad folks switched to the winter ads in summer and vice versa.
