Pittsburgpam- I personally do not think you got a bad deal. I also have a Viking and have had it for a number of years. I LOVE it. A great machine and has never needed repair. In fact, I will probably teach my grand-daughter to sew on it this year. Definitely take the lessons. They are invaluable. ENJOY![b] dphelps
