I understand the nostalgic aspect of owning a Featherweight. But my prize is an old 1946 Singer 201-2, & it was not nearly that high - sews very well, never complains whatever I put under the needle. It weighs a ton, so stays 'put' once placed.
I have a small BabyLock-9 for quilting away from home - works fine, is light weight for trasnport, & was on sale for under $200 a couple years ago at a LQS. Maybe I'd have gotten a Featherweight instead, but was not on the board to hear so much about them at the time I bought the BabyLock. Now I cannot spend the extra, so I choose to be satisfied with what I have.
But I do love to hear the FW stories from all of you.
