Just recently I was sewing something and had the walking foot attached to my Brother machine. I forgot to put my post-it note in front of the needle area "ADJUST NEEDLE" and when I turned the machine on and started to sew the needle came down and hit the foot so hard the needle broke. The needle was in the wrong position.
I thought I was ok and replaced the needle, but since then the walking foot won't work. The needle won't go up and down in the hole area but hits on the foot. I'm afraid i have bent the area where the needle goes. I'm definately going to buy a new walking foot and I hope it works. I hope there isn't any permanent damage to my machine. I have to leave the post-it note to myself on the machine every time to check the needle position before I start stitching. I'm really not C-nile, but I sometimes feel like it.
