There is this little place in Silver Lake, OR called the Cowboy Dinner Tree. Sits in the middle of nowhere. Used to be an old bunkhouse I have been told, not sure how true that is. It is a destination type resturant. You have to have reservations to be seated. You also place your order when you make resrvation. Your choice of entree's is a 26-30 oz steak or a whole chicken, served /w baked potatoe, hearty soup of the day, fresh baked sweet dinner rolls, salad with either ranch or honey mustard dressing. Choice of coffee, iced tea, lemonade to drink and the desert of the day, usually a shortcake with fruit. Everything but entree', potatoe and desert are served family style. Did I mention No steak sauce or credit cards, cash only? Steak sauce, don't need it and no credit card machine becaue that would require extra electricity and they only use a generator. The place is rustic, the dishes don't match, tables are planks of wood logs cut from large trees and mismatched chairs. Don't be surprised if a server or even the cook comes out has a seat and strikes up a conversation for a few minutes. They provide the doggie bags. Did I mention the food is out of this world and all for around $24 a plate. The experience is worth that.
