Please do not throw out the wooden spools, they are collectors items, someone said something about putting them in glass jar, that would be a cool shelf decoration for your sewing room!
At one of our quilt shows someone had displayed the old wooden spools in a gum ball machine. It was really cute. You could also make a lamp for your sewing room by getting a lamp kit to go with your clear glass container. Maybe a huge mason jar would be just the right display.
