I either quio\lt straight lines X's or sew inside about half inch around each piece,,,,,,,,,,,I also tie using matching embroidery floss. I can only machine quilt pieces about pillow size. I do what I can do and make myself happy and at peace. If you need a gift quilt in a hurry , make some rag quilts. If you turn it into work it spoils the fun :P :P :P
