I was going to ask the same thing.
What an interesting group of photos. The making of batiks look very labor intensive, so I can see why they can be spendy. But they are so beautiful.
My sister-in-law is not a sewer, so it did not occur to her to bring fabric back! She is a needle pointer.
I suspect that the workers are paid very little, on our scale, or the fabrics would be even more expensive.
