I forgot about the auto thread cutter.....I had the same problem and just stopped using it. Pull the fabric back and clip the threads by hand....ended the frustation of having to re=thread the needed when the short tails pulled out. Might have to try your one hole threading idea and see if that would help but after years of cutting threads the ''old fashoned way'' I doubt I would remember to use the auto thread cutter.
