We were planning on doing curtains for her living room anyway - this just sealed the fabric choice. Last summer I made curtains for my grandson's room and for daughter/son-in-law's room. She has simple tastes - no frills - sew a few hems and you're about done. One had tabs on the top, but that's as complicated as it got! Even used grosgrain ribbon for the tie-backs on grandson's.
We've been married 37 years and this is our third couch. First one was on sale at K-mart. Second one came from an actual furniture store. Current one - inheritance - I liked it when MIL chose it for her home and now I've had it 14 years. My mother has really nice furniture - decorator selected - but she's had it since my son was a baby and he's 32. Changing out furniture just isn't in the genes. Grandson's dresser was my daughter's as a child. Her bed was her grandmother's. I just don't get three sets of furniture in 9 years! Look at all the fabric that could have bought! But her early-marriage-relative-attic living room got quite a facelift as a result - so keep it coming!
