I've walked in Cleveland three times, crewed in Cleveland once and walked in Dallas once, and it has been amazing each time. I've walked with my daughter three times, my husband once and we all crewed together once. I'll be walking with my daughter again this year and probably again next year, and the next year, etc.....

When the walk first came to Cleveland my then 17 year-old daughter asked if I would walk with her because she really wanted to do something rather than just give money. Well, I said yes because you just don't say no when your teenager wants to do something so philanthropic. Of course the joke here is that I must have been drunk to agree to walk 60 miles in 3 days. :-)

Anyway, that first year was amazing despite the rain and 50 degree temperatures and we just keep on doing it. Every year since 2007 we've had at least two people from the family walk and I've always been one of them. In that time, our family has raised a little over $25,000 and we couldn't be happier. We're looking for the day when we won't have to do this any more, but until then, I'll keep walking and making quilts to raffle.

Congratulations on your 18 months!! You are the reason we walk!! We want to hear more about those that survive and less about those that don't. Fortunately neither of us has been afflicted by this disease, but we know that the chances are there and we really just feel like we have to do something.

Thanks and again, congratulations on the 18 months. Here's to the next 18!
