Where in East Texas? My grandparents lived in Center. There are mahaws growing wild up there - my grandmother used to go out and pick them and make jelly. It is very tart and fruity tasting. Another great jelly is prickly pear jelly. The Mexicans call prickly pears "tunas" (nothing to do with tuna fish!). That is my favorite, I think.[/quote]

I live in Palestine, Tx. I have heard they grow wild along the river banks.
