I don't usually pre-wash. If the fabric is a very deep color, I might test a sample to be sure it won't bleed or fade but I like the crispness of working with new fabric and I haven't had a problem with fabrics shrinking or distorting in 30 years. I've used Connecting Threads fabrics and never had a problem of any kind.
