I went to a class last night and was reprimanded for using the wrong spindle. I was using the horizontal spindle because this is my personal choice but I was also using a spool of Coats cotton. Apparently I should have been using the vertical spindle because this spool is wound using the 'stacked' system. I should only use the horizontal spindle if I am using thread that is wound 'cross grained' on the spool.
I have to say that I had never realised that there is a difference and I didn't see any difference in my machine stitching.....but that's just me.
