I've owned 3 Brother embroidery machines, one embroidery only, 2 combo, beautiful stitching, great, dependable machines.
Both my combo machines were/are set up for embroidery only. I will probably never sew on the one I currently have because I have a couple of regular sewing machines. And I keep my embroidery machine on top of a high dresser for easier accessibility. It would be too difficult to move it to a table for sewing. But as far as capabilities, it is an awesome sewing machine.
I also own Bernina 600 and 650 embroidery only sewing machines, the hoop size is limited, but the stitching is gorgeous, and the designs already included in the machine are some of the best stitch outs I've seen as well.
