Topper1 I'm doing the FWS as a quilt as you go. I'm quilting my blocks with the batting individually; I'll add the sashing and cornerstones to the blocks and then add the backing in all one piece. I'll then quilt around the blocks so the backing will only be quilted in straight lines. If you go to the FWS section here and find the thread marked FWS sashing and layouts, there are others doing the same and you might get more suggestions.
This is my plan--I still might end up with 111 potholders!!
