Here is the photo I used for the lily. I resized it and cropped it. Then I printed it in black and white. I drew black lines on the paper around the major shapes with a pen. I laid high quality muslin fabric (or have used polished sateen purchased at Dharma Trading Co.) over that design and traced lightly with a mechanical pencil. I used the Ultimate Marking Pencil for Quilters. I started coloring with the lightest shades first and added medium and dark for shading and intensity. I drew strokes of color to mimic the lines in the photo. Finally I used the small, short stiff brush to dip into the aloe vera gel and brush onto the colored fabric. I make sure all of the color has been activated by the gel. I know this has happened, because the colors become more intense.
