My wife and I try to rotate our food items in our pantry so that the older items get used first. We don’t stockpile by definition, but have always kept a “larder” with a modest supply of food in reserve. Some of our seasoning packets may be our oldest items, since we tend to buy plenty, use some, and stick the rest in a tub and forget about them until we need that seasoning again. Occasionally, we go through them and discard the oldest ones.

My wife pulled out a dip seasoning packet this morning, and we both did a double-take at the “Best Before” date that we read on the recently purchased packet. Sure made us read it again!
