This is a very good idea for several reasons. If you have any kind of trouble with your hands (I have tendonitis and tenovensitis) it affects what I'm able to do daily. If I have good days, I cut. Because I could go weeks before my hands don't hurt so I can cut again. It's easier to sew than to use the pressure to cut fabric. Whatever makes it easier for you is the right answer.
