I spray baste. The reason I started was because of all the wrinkles I was getting when quilting. I use 505 Spray and Fix. I've heard it's the best stuff out there, but I've never tried anything else. It holds through the entire process. I've taken a project off the L.A. and leave it for 2-3 days and come back to it and it's held up as if I just basted that day.

It comes out in the wash after the first washing.

Note - If you use spray baste to hold down any templates for quilting (i.e. - acrylic templates) you will need to remove the spray baste from the templates with something like nail polish remover. Learned this the hard way ;-). Have fun!
