My! How interesting to hear such diverse opinions on this! When I married, I added my DH's name to mine, so I have no qualms using my maiden name. In his culture, though, all women keep their name, rather than taking their husband's. I think, after trying to search our family lines, that having the maiden name on the quilts would be advantageous.

Just another reason to emphasize - Label your quilts!!!!!
My mother has two that were made in the 1850's or 1860's. There is no indication of who made them, only the family stories handed down. Mom wrote it down so it won't be lost. But it would be so much nicer to have the labels right on the quilts.
