The ad is gone. If it is a Singer 503 you really do need the 0 cam. But if it is a Singer 500 all you have to do is set it to zigzag - that is the same as the 0 cam so just use the stitch selector dials. You can look inside the top cover for the combination. If it is going slow it might need some attention to the foot control or maybe the motor is sluggish. Too bad you don't live next door - I'd have it all slicked up and ready to go for you. Those are a great machine and well worth some attention. If it is a 500 you only need cams 1-5 because the rest are built in to the machine. Only thing better is a 401 or a 403. It could need new wires - those can be ordered on line - places like sewclassic.com have them and new foot controls - I think she has a link to a free owner's manual. With it's age it's not a half bad idea to replace the wires anyway. You can easily pull out the motor and take it to a small electric motor shop and have them clean it up - then put it back in. Not a hard task.
http://parts.singerco.com/IPsvcManuals/306W25.pdf scroll down to page 125 or so where the 401 service manual starts - it is the same inside so this info will help you.
