Hi,
I use cotton fabric (usually the one with potatoes as its cute for the project) and the warm tater batting, and cotton thread. No poly thread....
I use my potato bag all the time and I've not had any fires...my friend had hers start on fire...why? She used poly thread.
I have also made them with regular warm and natural batting with no issues.
