I finished this quilt top last week and am waiting for the backing fabric to arrive. The pattern is Magic Squares by Helene Knott. The pattern finished size is 58" x 74" but I enlarged it to queen size by adding extra borders. I auditioned a lot of batiks for this top. After I completed the blocks and put them on my design wall the colors in the large blocks did not "work" with the colors in the smaller blocks, the light sides were too yellow. So more shopping until I found the fabric I liked. The large blocks that did not make it will go into another Magic Squares for me. This quilt will be for my son who finally moved back to the U.S. after 23 years living in Germany and Czech Republic.
