I will try to answer all the questions in one post.
THE QUILTING:
btiny36 is correct - the boards go on the back of the machine in place of a paper pantograph.
The size of the boards varies according to the pattern. I believe most are 24" long and you must buy 3-5 of them and connect them together.
There are also square boards for doing individual block designs and they can be done from the back or the front of the machine if you have The Topper attachment or the Circle Lord UpFront attachment.
As you guessed, the width and length of the pattern is pre-determined by the board and cannot be changed.
THE QUILT PATTERN
I did not make the quilt top and don't know the name of the pattern or where it came from. I will try to find out from the customer, but I think it was made several years ago by her mother so we may not be able to track down the name of the pattern.
