Gayle and anyone else who suffers from foot issues - join the crowd. I have had serious injury with not very good recovery along with hammer toe surgery with so-so recovery. My shoes are on and off. I have had good luck with OhrthaHeel shoes which don't come cheap by any means but have good effect on overpronation and totally flat arch. For everyone - I spent a fair amount of money on Chef's Mat (a gel filled mat) for cutting table and just recently to place in front of my kitchen counters. When I have a lot of ironing to do I just slide it from the cutting table to the iron. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! You can get them at Bed Bath and Beyond and probably most kitchen shops.
