I use to have a pair of hip boots also and spent every summer in Montana on the Madison River with my family, usually following my father. We did a lot of fly fishing but also "drowned a few worms" just enjoying fishing the clear streams. It was always our great dream to go to Alaska to fish for trout there. I married an Army officer and we never returned to the west. But I got my quilting roots out there and have enjoyed sharing that training as we traveled. (Still miss my boots and pole!)

I love fishing too. The fish in the picture is a Sockeye Red Salmon. I came up the Copper River then into the Klutina River where I caught it. There is some great trout fishing here too but it is best in the early Spring and in September.
The Salmon you have to get as they come up the rivers.
