I also think it looks like a stack and whack type or stacking the deck type thing. You would take four squares of different fabrics Put your ruler at an angle and make a diagonal cut. Leave it all in place and make a hortizonal cut at any angle you chose. Then you keep one corner of patches the same, shift the second corner one down, the third corner two down and the last corner three down. Then take all the pieces now on top, which would be one of each fabric and sew them together for your block. You over size so you can square it up with a square up ruler. They are fun
