You might try going to the nearest hardware store and picking up a magnetic parts pickup tool. It'll either be similar to a pencil with a magnet on the end. Or it will look like a radio antenna with a magnet on the end. Mechanics use them, whenever they drop screws. The magnet should be able to find the screw and pull it out for you.
