If I want a frayed look, I will do just a straight stitch about 1/8" from the edge. In my avatar, I used both satin stitch and straight stitch for the applique. Thank you for recommending the 1/8" stitch from the edge.. I do want the slightly frayed look around the flowers. I saw this quilt in a quilt shop and fell in love with it immediately... The shop lady said it was something you either loved or hated...
She had hers quilted before adding the applique flowers, then the flowers were quilted too, later. It was a beautiful quilt! Hope mine turns out half as good...
