My kids are 1/4 German. Their paternal grandfather was born near the Black Forest in 1903 and emigrated here in 1936 because he hated the politics at that time. He loved speaking German (which none of his kids or daughters-in-law could speak). So twice a year we'd take him to a restaurant that was owned and run by another authentic German. He served only real German beer and food. Yummy! My father-in-law said it was almost like being back home. He was such a nice man.
