I wonder if you could do a zigzag or some other stitch to reinforce the seams joining the blocks.
I saw a demonstration of the fun and done QAYG technic at the Waco quilt show. I made a few blocks as soon as I got home so I wouldn't forget how to do it. When I get enough scraps I will finish the quilt...... some day.
