Unfortunately, Home Ec is one of the classes being dropped in some schools :(
I was a home ec teacher in the early sixties. And yes, theprogram has changed considerably. It is now called Human Resources. No sewing, no food preparation, etc. Although some of the "older" teachers do find the time (and the resources) to include these skills within their other units of study.
I bought my school model machine new from a Singer shop. I had seen the add and went to check it out. That's the machine I prefer to do my machine quilting on.
