I also like to use the Plain Spoken pattern by Bill Kerr and Weeks Ringle found in their book The Modern Quilt Workshop.
You can either free motion quilt (I like to use my Singer 15-90 in treadle for this) or straight-stitch quilt (which is quick and simple on even Singer 66-1). I'm presently working on a Plain Spoken that is quilted just using the straight-stitch. I'll post photos of the finished quilt.
