This 1902 Singer Treadle sewing machine with its cabinet was found in an antique shop and restored by myself to its initial beauty. My wife and I thank the Singer Manufacturing Company for having built such a long lasting product, way back in the early 1900's, a true workmanship of art that bridged the gap of over a century!
My wife, as a young girl, learned to sew on a Singer Shuttle Treadle machine of this type. As the years went by, unfortunately she lost ownership of that machine, which had been part of her grandmothers’ heritage.
Upon our marriage, I had promised her that I would try to replace that machine for her if I would be able to fine one. Well, the time came! For our 40th wedding anniversary I had located this abandoned, neglected, rusted and delaminated "1902 Singer Vibrating Shuttle Treadle Sewing Machine" orphan.
It was quite a challenge as well as a joy to be able to restore the machine to its original beauty and elegance.
My wife is blessed with possessing a great talent in sewing and in creating quilts. This 1902 restored miracle will be with her for many more decades to come! Not only is it another addition to her other sewing machines but it also makes for a beautiful piece of furniture and conversational item.
