I finally finished piecing and pressing the top yesterday afternoon. I'm not a fan of sewing on borders... the longer the get, the more I drag my feet at attacking them. Which is ridiculous because they honestly don't take that long.

And nobody told me how long basting would take! Yikes. I didn't keep track of the hours, but it took most of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and all of Sense & Sensibility to get it all sandwiched, smoothed and stitched. ;) And I managed to avoid sewing it to the carpet, so that's good!

Anyway, here are some photos. I'm not over the moon with the green, but I don't hate it. I'm hoping it grows on me. I'm going to quilt it by hand, just straight lines spaced fairly close together, and in the squares where a whole bird is untouched by a seam, I'm going to leave the bird unquilted. I'm hoping it'll be a subtle way to highlight them, because those birds are so completely charming. :)

Hope you like it!
